How to Reach Leh
Getting to Leh is an adventure in itself, and your Leh Trip truly begins the moment you start your journey there. Here’s how you can reach:
By Air:
The easiest way to start your Leh Trip is by flight. Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh is well connected to Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Srinagar with daily flights. The airport is just 4 km from the city centre and is the most recommended option given Leh’s high altitude — flying allows you to spend Day 1 resting and acclimatising.
By Road:
From Manali: The Manali–Leh highway opens from June to September and offers a breathtaking 2-day journey through high passes like Rohtang and Baralacha La.
- From Srinagar: The Srinagar–Leh route via Zoji La opens from May onwards and takes around 2 days with a stopover at Kargil.
By Train:
There is no direct train to Leh. The nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi (JAT), approximately 700 km away. From there, you can take a cab or government bus via Srinagar to reach Leh for your Leh Trip.
